Organizational Development is an effort to increase an organization's ability to improve itself as an effective system. The elements of OD may include:
- Finding ways to adapt to the changing context while maintaining and enhancing the organizations integrity and internal integration.
- Establishing structures, processes and a climate that allow it to effectively manage its important and pressing business while giving adequate attention to strategic issues.
- Increasing the ability to engage formation issues such as: Vision (defining of identity, purpose, values), Attracting New People (staff and/or members), Increased Competence and Commitment, Creating an Alignment (resources, income and expenses, physical facilities, program needs)
The most significant contribution to an organization is in creating a culture that focuses on the continuous growth and vitalization of the system.
